Google Northfork LI and you can get the names of the wineries. They are all along the road in almost the same place. I am just not remembering names tonight ( ever)..
Go to Orient Point, just drive around
I tried to buy a beach house there a couple of years ago .. sigh.
Have fun!

Thanks Scarlett...I have done some surfing and am overloaded with the amount of wineries in the area. I am a bit particular with wines and prefer good reds. Since we only have limited time, I wanted to try to narrow it down a little. I heard great things about Paumanok, Castello di Borghese Winery and a few others. Just wanted to get some feedback. Thank you again. Lori

Hi Loriv,
The North fork wineries are not really known for their red wines, but Lenz does have a really good Merlot, but it is pricey.
Jamesport has a unique and delicious Sauvignon blanc, as did Macari.
Cabernet Franc is decent at a few of the North fork places.
Enjoy

I like the Pindar tour the best (next to Lenz) and enjoy the $)Mythology$) (Bordeaux blend)
, which is next to the Lenz winery that has respectable Gewurtzraminer. Pugliese vineyards has a selection of wines in beautifully
handpainted bottles. (Link: www.nywine.com/nygold/competition.asp?cmp=111&yr=2004

There are a zillion B&B's out that way - I know, I scoped out most of them when planning my wedding out there.
Some of my relatives had a good experience at Stirling House Bed & Breakfast in Greenport. Bartlet House B&B also looks nice. If you're into wines, there's the Vintage Bed & Breakfast in nearby Cutchogue. It's a wine-themed B&B and the building was built just for that purpose.
About the wines...my husband thinks the Pindar wines taste like gasoline.
However, their tasting room is fun, and they have a few cats. My favorite winery is probably Palmer, which is up the North Road a bit, in Riverhead. They have a nice cabernet, as I recall, and a very nice reisling.
Keep in mind when driving out there that there are 2 roads, the Main Road and the North Road. They join in Greenport. There are wineries on both of them. There are a bunch of ways to get from one to the other; the shortest is Love Lane in Mattituck.
Let me know if there's anything else you want to know about the area. My mom has had a place out there for a few years now, so I'm pretty familiar with it!

Thanks John & Sunny...Have either of you been to the Paumanok or Castello di Borghese Winery? I read some good things about them. Also interested in the Morning Glory B&B. Sunny if you have info on that one. Thank you so much. Lori
