There is a Foodtown (the gal at Snorkel Bob's says they have great fresh fish), a Times, and a Safeway in Kihei. We mostly shopped at the Safeway, which is just off the Piilani Hwy. at Piikea St. It felt like it took a long time to get there from our condo (Grand Champions in Wailea), but my in-laws did some shopping at Foodland and said it took them longer to get back to the condo from there.

Foodland is on pokey Kihei Rd. and Safeway is right off Piilani Highway. We tend to avoid Kihei Rd. even though we have to double back a little, using Kilohana between Kihei and Piilani. Both groceries are open 24/7 (no alcohol after 11 p.m.).

As others have mentioned, Safeway is a good bet for groceries. I discovered that the food counter at the Whaler's General Store at the Shops at Wailea makes great sandwiches, salads and other food to go. We picked up food for picnics there twice on this last trip. Not cheap, but nothing in Wailea is cheap. What unit are you renting at Elua?

I shop at both Foodland and Safeway. I like that Foodland has some items that are not typically carried in Safeway, their poke is excellent. Make sure that you get club cards for both stores. You might already have one for Safeway but get one for Foodland, too. Grocery prices are high but not so bad if you get the discounts with their club card. Piilani Highway moves along quickly so it never seems that long to get to the store going that way. Kihei Rd is slow but sometimes I like the drive just to check things out. If you do shop at Foodland, cut over from the Piilani Hwy to Kihei Rd using Kanani/Auhana Rd.
