Advice on Condo in Maui

Hi there:
Can anyone recommend a nice, spacious, luxurious, condo in Maui. Just two of us, wanting 4 or 5 star quality. Near the water is fine, does not have to be on the beach. As long as it is clean, updated. Wish it could be private and romantic too. We might be asking to much. Price up to 400.00 per night. Is that realistic? Be great if it was secluded and private, if not, thats okay too.

Thanks, Helen
Thanks for your help.
Helen

The Kaanapalii Alii. Beachfront on Kaanapali Beach, but not secluded and private.

I personally think the best value is the Whaler, also on Kaanapali Beach but not as luxurious.

This may not be luxurious enough for you, but the cottages should be more secluded than a condo. You also are near Mama's Fish House, one of the best restaurants in Maui.

We stayed at Grand Champions Villas in Wailea. The unit was on the golf course and had a partial ocean view. I don't know what time of year you'ere thinking about but you can definitely do much better than $400 per night unless you really want that level of luxury. The condo we rented at G.C. was very spacious. We rented through the owner at www.mauihawaiicondo.com

I agree that Kaanapali Ali is top shelf, Very nice condos; spacious. There is a nice pool next to the ocean and there is also a nice walk along the ocean (concrete) that goes past most of the other hotels and resorts, Its a short walk to the marriot and hyatt for entertainment and there is a shopping area within walking distance also. Find someone who can be sure to pick a nice unit.

I like both Makena Surf and the condos at Polo Beach. Yes, that's Polo Beach Condos/Resort. Both a wee way past Wailea on wonderful, less populated beaches than Kaanapali.

Helen,
We too enjoyed our condo rental at Grand Champions Villas in Wailea. It was very nice. I can't remember what we paid as we bid directly from the timeshare owner on ebay.com but I guarantee it was FAR less than $400 per night....maybe $600 for 7 nights as I recall. You would be happy there.

I just posted this on another thread. Try the Kapalua Bay Villas. They are very quiet, upscale and a 10 minute ride to Kaanapali and Lahaina. It's like a whole different world up there. They are Villas, not condo's but I think you can get them for about the price you are looking for. Go to Kapaluabayhotel.com and check these out. You can also get into them at Starwood .com. Hope this helps.

Polo Beach Club in Wailea. Gorgeous, a/c and on the beach. Rent directly from owner (not me) at vrbo or other web sites.

I agree with other posters that Polo Beach Club is nice property...right to Kea Lani.

But, when I stayed there a year ago, I unit I got was VERY tired...like last redecorated in the late 70's tired...when I complained at the Destination Resorts desk, they thought I was kidding and kep assurig me it was a beautiful unit...also keep in mind that the rooms directly in front of the ocean are the deluxe ocean front rooms...the ones on the sides of the triangle are the ocean front rooms...some thing DR's reservations agents assured me would not be the case...

My suggestion is to rent directly from an owner and get recent pictures of the inside and the view from outside.

I love the complex and owuld stay there again, but not with DR and not without recent photos of what I am buying!

Although Laura may have gotten her rental at Grand Champions at ebay...Grand Champions is not a time share property. The units are owned by one owner and not part of a time share program.
