SusieQQ, I just posted some more photos from 2011 (no interior room shots though) http://www.worldisround.com/articles/376623/index.html
In Waikiki, there are numerous ABC stores which sell food items that you can take to your room---muffins/danish, premade sandwiches/salads, yogurt, juice, soda, chips etc etc. There are usually one or two ABCs in every block. There is one about 20 feet from the entrance to the Waikiki Circle.
Another option would be Food Pantry http://www.shopsofhawaii.com/shops/food-pantry
which is about 6 blocks away. This is a small grocery store that has a complete selection offood.

Down a little and on the other side of street from the Food Pantry is the St. Germain bakery at 2301 Kuhio Street. It has wonderful pastries, croissants, donuts, muffins, and my favorite chocolate iced, custard filled, long johns. They would wrap something for you that would still be fresh for breakfast.
The street is the one behind Kalakaua, the main street along the beach in Waikiki.

St Germain's bakery is fabulous! Right across the street from Food Pantry grocery store.
Also a million ABC Stores (not quite but seems like it). There is no shortage of places to pick up a muffin. If you like flavored yogurt, try some of the island flavors... pineapple, coconut, mango, passion fruit, etc. at Food Pantry.

Oh my I forgot about the island flavors of yogurt! So delicious! They are at ABC too...or were in 2011 at least.
I seem to remember a small bakery at the front of Food Pantry, a separate business within the bigger store. Is that still there? I was thinking it had a French name ; was it St Germaine and now they have moved out? Or maybe I am wrong and it was an ice cream place....some kind of sweet treat anyway as I recall.
