Thanks for the link, yestravel. I'm glad the article didn't mention some of my favorites, but it looks like it'll be a long time before I can get a reservation at Le Pigeon again.
My wife says she heard that some food or travel magazine had listed Portland as the second best culinary destination in the WORLD, behind Lima, Peru. We do have some great restaurants here, but I wouldn't believe that for a second. Or Lima, for that matter.

Behind Lima, Peru?? Are they kidding?? Having just been to Lima, Peru this Spring, I wouldn't even put it on my top 10 dining experiences, let alone ahead of Portland.
We got our reservations at LePigeon about 2 weeks in advance for a Saturday night. That's a fairly standard timeframe for many good restaurants in DC on a weekend.

It's a fantastic article. We just spent some time down there last month checking out many new restaurants and cocktail lounges as well as visiting the tried and true. Le Pigeon was really wonderful for adventuresome eaters (think foie gras ice cream) and Clyde Commons has a wonderful neighborhoody feel to it.
