NYC to Boston
If we take the Amtrak between NYC and Boston, is there any city on that route that would be interesting and perhaps stay a couple of nights to break our journey as we have lots of time? It would be in November. Thanks so much.

The train stops in Westerly, RI, which is just over the border from Mystic. If you have a spell of nice weather and an interest in maritime history it might make a good stop.
Other possibilities are New Haven and Providence. Have to say that I don't consider either a destination, though each has its charms. Maybe add a day to New York and a day to Boston, both of which have much to offer.

If you want too see things between NYC and Boston you're much better off not taking the train. there's a lot of stuff to see in between - but most is readily accessible by car - not really by train (esp Amtrak , which makes few stops).
You can do Mystic Seaport, Newport, Olt Sturdrige Village - there's a whole list - but many either ot doable or a PITA without a car.

well, this might not be what you had in mind, but you could stop in New London and I think you can get a bus from there to Foxwoods Casino.
just an idea...its not a bad place to spend a night, eat a nice dinner, gamble, and go to the Indian Museum.
Also, if you have extra time, does the destination have to be between Boston and New York? add 2 nights in Philadelphia! its only a couple hours furthur than NYC.
