NYC Room with a view
I'll be in New York in April and would love to have a hotel room that is high up and with a glorious city-lights view. I'd even be willing to splurge just this once. Can anyone recommend a hotel where I might find such a room?
Many thanks,
BB

For their 50th anniversary my parents stayed at the Waldorf Towers (next to the Waldorf Astoria) and specifically asked for a city lights view. The Chrysler Building was in perfect view. Ask for it! The Towers start at the 24th floor so most anything facing northwest will thrill.

My favorite is still at the Marriott Marquis if you can get a room on the north side looking right out to Times Square and up Broadway. They have wall to wall glass, floor to ceiling and we always turn our sofa to face directly out like a giant moviescreen.
Of course, it's hard to get a guarantee for that, but we've requested it about four times and have always gotten it.
Many hotels around Central Park will have great park views, but I guess if I'm in New York, the brighter the lights and the busier the streets, the better!!

Wonderful, Folks. My sincere thanks to each of you.
I am going to book the Marriott. Would a corner room be worth asking for? I booked a room here years ago, and the reservation clerk said to me, "I'll give you a corner room," when I asked for a roomwith a view. (We never did get to NY unfortunately.)
Cheers,
BB
