NYC - looking for hotel

Hi!!
Coming to NYC with the family for the first time. Can anyone recommend a good hotel in NYC which can accommodate a family of five?

I haven't had much luck so far so any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks

C

above where it say "search tis forum" type in, hotel family of 5.
there are hundreds of threads. try to narrow the search so you don't have to go thru so many posts.
also try searching suites.
I have read about Radio City Apt. The 2 bedroom can handle up to six)i believe).

You may want to start with the Affinia hotels, they are suite hotels with small kitchenettes. http://www.affinia.com

Our family of four (including two young adults) were very happy with the Embassy Suites in NYC, near Ground Zero and Wall Street. A really good, hot buffet breakfast is included. It's not fancy, per se, but well kept and a pretty good location for the price.

Unfortunately - the search feature here isn't too smart and will only search two words.

Try putting in :
NYC Suite
NYC Apartment

The Affinia website is easy to browse and we had good luck finding a decently priced place for a week.

Good luck.

No hotel will let you put 5 people in a regular room - they just won;t fit - and in many cases this is against fire code. Agree to look at the affinia group (moderately priced and get generally good reviews) and embassy suites. The Salisbury also sometimes has suites with 2 beds and a sofabed at fairly reasonable rates - just be sure to let them know ages of kids - since in NYC anyone over 12 is usually considerred an adult.

If you're staying 4/5 nights or more you might look for an apartment (assume you have small kids and this will make snacks and breakfast easier).

We have never had five people, but usually have 4 when we go to NYC. We have always stayed at Doubletree Suites in Times Square. In the rooms you can get the bedroom with two queen beds and a hide a bed in the other room. That would sleep five, if they will let you have five in the room. I don't know but the room would sleep five. The room also comes with a fridge and a microwave. The prices are pretty high or I think they have gotten high. A lot of people don't like to stay right in Times Square, but I have found that my kids love the area. Have a great time!

Your kids might like Serendipity. The frozen hot chocolate is to die for. If you go there I would make a reservation. We always make a reservation and there has always been a very long line when we get there and we walk right in and are seated. Here's the phone number.
Serendipity3 is located at:

225 East 60th Street
between 2nd and 3rd Avenues
New York, NY 10022

212-838-3531.

Besides the Embassy Suites, we also had a good experience with the Affinia Gardens property, on the Upper East side. I don't know your budget, but they had a two bedroom, two bath suite with a kitchen and dining area, for about $600/night last May. A very nice property and well-managed.
