NYC- Local Telephone Calls
The telephone in our vacation rental apartment is limited to local calls only. Are calls to the other boroughs local calls? Aside from 212, which other area codes are considered local calls. For example, one of the museums that we would like to visit is 718. I don't mind paying for non-local (toll) calls, but I don't think that that is even an option with our telephone.
TIA,
Nina

I think you would need to get the answer from the people you're renting from. There are so many different carriers and plans available - who knows what they've bought?
(My "local" area is 212, 646, 917, 718, 516 and 914) - but have no way of knowing if yours will be the same.)

212, 347, 646, 718 and 917 are the area codes in the city and are local calls if dialed in the city. 347, 646 and 917 are more often assigned to mobile phones, but can also be land lines.
516 and 914 are in Nassau County (Long Island) and Westchester County respectively and are not local calls from the city.
