I don;t know of any restaurant in NYC - especialy in the theater district - that stops serving before 10pm - and most are later than that . Any place that's trendy - with "buzz" is likely to serve considerably later - since the trendy people don;t have dinner at 7pm.
What cuisine and budget?

10 pm is hardly late night eating in NYC! GoTravel was thinking what I was thinking -- that you were looking for restaurants that still serve at 2 or 3 am. There are a number of those (Lucky Strike is my fave), but you'll find virtually all restaurants in the theatre district still serving at 10 pm.

Howards three are all good. Also Marseilles at the corner of 9th and 44th has great "buzz" after theatre.
Huge and noisy TAO is just getting going by then.
Depending on where your theatre is and how far you want to walk, these are all really nice places we've gone to after theatre and all have a buzz:
Redeye Grill
Osteria del Circo
Trattoria Dell'Arte
Estiatorio Milos
China Grill
Citarella
Blue Fin
I understand why you said what you originally did. Well known places like Grammercy Tavern, LeBernardin, Gotham Bar and Grill, etc. are all OUT for after theatre dining. Last seating is too late to usually get to from the theatre. But there are hundreds of options (literally) for good and fun after theatre -- much preferred by me to pre-theatre.

Seems to me every highend place in Manhattan I ever try to make a reservations wants to offer me 5:30 or 10:45. I don't think you should have any trouble. I know Daniel is opened at least til 10:30 and I'd bet Town, Cafe Gray, Asiate are too.

I'd find out how late I could eat at the bar at Babbo. Otherwise, check out Ono. Definitely buzzing at that hour. Oh, and find out how long your show is. Some of them run much longer than 10 pm. I think Wicked goes to 10:45ish

Bobby Flay's new place, Bar Americain which is where JUdson Grill used to be is a great idea. You can do full meals or better yet, choose from the sensational appetizers and side dishes. The place was still rocking at midnight when we went after theatre.

Blue Ribbon (not the bakery), but the one on Sullivan St closest to Spring St. You'll most likely run into celelberity chefs gorging on one of their specialties (think Bone Marrow on Ox Tail Marlmalade - one of the BEST bone marrow dish anywhere).

No reservationa at Blue Ribbon. If there's only one or 2 of you, the seats at the bar, with all the delectable raw seafood on display, the busy but friendlyoyster/clam shucker, and a very efficient bartend/food server, are as good as a table. BTW, their southern-style fried chicken are good, too.
