NYC: Delmonico's Steakhouse for "Downtown for Dinner 2006""
Has anybody been? Is it any good?
We're thinking of spending the night downtown and Delmonico's (as well as other restaurants) is offering three-course prix fixe dinners for $30.00.
Thanks!

Honestly, no. There are just better restaurants in the area than that place. I looked at the list of available restaurants, and I wasn't blown away. Prime Grill and Les Halles are both good.
The problem w/ Delmonico's is that it's a fairly mediocre steakhouse, that's still expensive.

Sorry, the only NYC Delmonico's that I remember was on Park Avenue near Sotheby's. It closed years ago. My grandparents, who had an apartment on Park Ave., ate there back in the 1960's. Has it been resurrected????

Stw, if you want steak, MarkJoseph is on the list and gets better scores for food in Zagat than Delmonico's and much better reviews on menupages. http://menupages.com/restaurantdetai...=0&cuisineid=0

There are also a couple of places on the list with wonderful views (Battery Gardens, Harbour Lights, Southwest).
But I'd consider Roy's the gem on that list.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
Reading their website, Delmonico's seems to have a long history - but I guess it's not that *special*.
Thank you for the links, mclaurie. I'll check them out. I didn't make a connection that Roy's is THE Roy's!

The Delmonico's open today has nothing to do with the historic restaurant, other than the name. AND I don't even think the food is that good, although I have not been there so cannot say for sure.
