NYC June/July Dates
Hey guys, I need some ideas for where to go on dates in NYC this summer; a girl I'm interested in is living there now and I'll be in the area. More eclectic the better and little money if you can handle it -- laidback vibe. Walking is a plus, and she lives and works in the theatre district. Also, my buddy might be coming along so if you have any ideas where he can pick up a friend (and stop entertaining himself with my love life) that'd be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Well - this is a travel board - not a dating service- and since we know nothing about you, your friend or your girl friend it's really hard to give you any useful info.
Are you all 22? 30? What do you/she do for a living? What are your intrests? And what do you mean by little money (free, modest or just not outrageously expensive/so trendy it hurts?)
As for your friend - send him off on his own to find a girlfriend - doing something that interests him - and hopefully her - whoever she may be.
For some ideas you might look at Time Out New York and New York Magazine on the web. Or - if you're truly eclectic try the Village Voice.

There are always free concerts and performances in Central Park, and other venues around the city. You might check New York Magazine for lots of things to do and www.nyctourist.com for more ideas.
I think Bryant Park will still be doing free outdoor movies on Monday nights, you bring the picnic and the Met and Philharmonic do MAJOR performances in The Sheep Meadow right behind the Met Museum.
Also most of the museums have one day a week free. Friday and Sat nights the Met stays open late and up on the balcony is live music, and you can have a glass of wine, relax, listen to the wonderful music and then tour the museum.
Also get a copy of The Village Voice, lots of listings of things in the city there too.
Have a great time while you are here.

I agree about sending your buddy on his way. 3's a crowd.
Here's a page of free things to do in NYC.

Number 8, kayaking downtown can be really fun. The Staten Island ferry ride can be romantic. Take a water taxi from the South Street Seaport to Fulton St. Brooklyn, walk the Brooklyn Promenade for views, have some pizza at Grimaldi's then walk back to Manhattan over the bridge for great views.

Try Midsummer Night's Swing at Lincoln Center. Every week they have live music outdoors, and a dance lesson is available first. There are all different kinds of music, and tickets are $15 each.
