NYC Hotel help!

Can I please get some opinions of nice hotels in New York ~ not right in the middle of Broadway and Times square but not to far either? We've stayed at the Waldorf, (beautiful but to old for my 21 year old and 18 year old daughters and too far from everything ~ they said)the Sheraton New York Towers and the New York Hilton (seemed far from stuff and just didn't like it as much as Sheraton). I liked the location of the Sheraton but wanted to try a different hotel this time! Something the younger women will enjoy! Any suggestions? Thank you!

You & the girls especially will LOVE
the W Hotel either at E.50 St & Lexington or Park Ave. Soth & 17 St.
Both in GREAT locations. I love the W! Was just there tonight (17 St.) for dinner at the excellent Olives restaurant. The Four Seasons hotel is beautiful but expensive E.57St. Good location. Good Luck!

My best friend and I stayed at The Drake Swissotel located at the corner of Park and E. 56th St. It was wonderful. The room was nice and roomy, the staff was more than helpful.
The Drake is not overcrowded with a lot of foot-traffic. Also, it is located just blocks away from Lexington and Fifth Avenues as well as Times Square.
It is more than reasonably priced.
We also discovered that the bartender at The Drake makes the best Cosmopolitans in NYC. Have Fun!!!!

I don't know about Traci but I would consider "reasonably priced" to be around $250. I checked the rates at the W hotel and the rates were a little "high" in my opinion. They were $350.00 per night. I'm still not sure but my platinum Am Express card has a special at The Plaza. The rate is $350.00 per night but it is for one of their "suites" and you get continental Breakfast each morning and also a $50.00 credit to spend in their gift shop. So I was thinking I might take that offer. I know the Plaza is far from a lot of stuff but it's not like we'll be hanging out their all day and I'd love to see thier suites!

I made reservations at the W - Times Square for the weekend in Febrary and the rate was $209/night. Very reasonable. Corporate rates are $261/night, but ask them about NYC Promotional rate if you want the $209 rate. I think the code is NYCPRO or NYCPMO. . .or something like that. Your children will love it there and may have a better perception of their parents too.

W Hotel person! I would like to try out the W hotel but on their web-site it is showing no availability for the times square hotel, cannot accomadate three at the W hotel New York and the Court and Tuscany are showing rates of 354.00! At least at the Plaza (for $350)we would get a suite and a complimentary continental Breakfast and a $50.00 gift shop credit!!

Have you tried to negoitate that rate at the Drake? I stayed there last weekend, 1 room w/2 double beds for $199 per night for 2 nights. Of course I did make my reservations about a month in advance - that that could have made a difference, I don't know. Check it out & good luck!

Priceline is getting rates of $90 per night for four star hotels in midtown Manhattan from now through March and sometimes beyond. If you don't HAVE to stay in a particular place, how can you go wrong with a four star for that price?

Try checking out the Ian Schrager (sp?) hotels -- I know that they are having a promotion where you stay one night and I think the second is free -- we loved The Royalton and The Paramount is also fun/cool (also check out the rants/raves re: these two). We really loved the Royalton - stayed there over Xmas week 2000 and paid $229/night.
