Where is the best location to stay in Boston?

Kris, find a map of Boston. It's very small as major cities go. Any hotel in the Back Bay area (including those mentioned by the others here) would be excellent for walking. I'd also say anything down to the waterfront would qualify. There are so many to choose from that only your wallet would dictate the best place for you. If you mention specific choices, we all would be happy to comment on them for you, I'm sure. And remember, the T is also a very easy way to get around Boston.

If you are going to Boston, I would definetly stay at either the Westin or Copley Marriott. Both of these hotels are in the Back Bay section of Boston and are right in the middle of lots shopping, and easy access to the T. Don't forget to go to the North End for incrediable Italian food and lots of history.

Kris,
My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Copley last May, and it turned out to be a great area. Right down the street from the subway, walk to Newbery street, close to the Boston Pops Symphony and Museums.
After touring around Boston, we would definitely stay in the Copley area again. The Marriott there is fantastic, too, btw.

WHEN I VISITED BOSTON A FEW YEARS BACK, I STAYED IN THE RADISSON ON 57TH STEWART STREET.ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND STAFF FRIENDLY. THIS HOTEL IS VERY CENTRAL TO THEATRE, COMEDY HOUSES, BACK BAY, COPLY SQUARE AND A SHORT WALK TO QUINCY MARKET. PLUS THE TROLLY TOUR WHICH YOU HOP ON AND OFF STOPS RIGHT OUTSIDE. YOU CAN ALSO JOIN THE FREEDOM TRAIL FROM BOSTON COMMON (ACROSS THE ROAD)QUITE A LONG WALK BUT VERY INTERESTING, PAUL REVERE AND ALL THAT.
WE ALSO GOT THE T TUBE TO HARVARD FOR THE DAY. WE STAYED HERE FOR 5 NIGHTS IN OCTOBER(A BIT COLD) WHICH WAS ENOUGH TIME TO SEE ALL WE WANTED, MAY I SUGGEST YOU TAKE THE BUS TO PLYMOUTH ONE DAY AS THIS IS A WONDERFUL QUAINT TOWN FULL OF HISTORY AND CHARM. I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFULL TIME. P.S GREAT RESTAURANT CALLED BRANNIGANS ACROSS ROAD.

IT DEPENDS ON YOUR BUDGET. OF COURSE THE BOSTON PARK PLACE IS THE BEST BUT IT IS ALSO THE MOST EXPENSIVE!! CAMBRIDGE IS RIGHT OUTSIDE OF BOSTON AND HAS MANY HOTELS MUCH CHEAPER THAN BOSTON. CAMBRIDGE IS ALSO LINKED TO THE SUBWAY WHICH MAKES A COMMUTE INTO THE CITY ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AWAY (DEPENDING ON WHAT TIME OF DAY)
