NYC Help

My daughter has had a bad semester at college and I have decided to treat her to NYC for her fall break. We will arrive Sat around noon and leave Tues. We have tickets to see Les Mes on Sunday. We will be staying at the Lucerne. We were there a couple of years ago and stayed in Times Square and shopped at Century 21 and H&M. Is there any shopping around the Lucerne that she would like? She really liked both Century and H&M, are there any other stores like that that we should try too? I know we won't have much time but we are pretty efficient shoppers and can usually cover a lot of ground. Thanks for any suggestions.

If you like H&M, you'll love Mexx which is right next door on Fifth Avenue.

There is plenty of shopping within walking distance of the Lucerne -- up and down Columbus Ave. However, none of it will be as inexpensive as H&M, Mexx or Century 21.

Also try Zara, there are several locations and Uniqlo in SoHo.

And, FWIW, there are plenty of restaurants up and down Columbus, too. I think you will really enjoy the location. Hope your daughter has fun!!

lisettemac!!! (It's annie2006 from the GDT). There can't be more than one lisettemac--so it must be you.

My name isn't Annie or Kate (but Kate's closer).

Hello,

I just have to say - what a great mom you are! I too have had rough semesters, and sometimes some quality time with mom is just what I needed.

If your daughter likes H&M, she might like Forever 21. It's very cheap and trendy.

I'm a big shopper, and I loved walking down 5th avenue. Sure, I can't afford anything, but drooling at the high end stores is still fun - Prada, Fendi, Gucci, etc. Or maybe a little splurge at Sephora.

Enjoy your trip!

Have a look at Filene's Basement at 79th & Broadway - you can get some good bargains among the lesser stuff. But - most of the stores in that area are either more upscale or the standards from the Mall (Vic's Secret, Nine West etc)

I never find Century 21 cheap.

Some things are a good deal.
