NYC--great burgers near Magnolia Bakery?
My daughter has misplaced the name of a "great place for burgers" near Magnolia Bakery on Bleeker Street. The suggestion was go here for lunch, then go eat cupcakes for dessert! Sounds like a plan if any of you can help!

Corner Bistro - 331 West Fourth St. a block north of Bleecker (with a 'c') and 2 or 3 blocks west of Magnolia.
If you like frat boys and girls buying mediocre beer and pigging out on mediocre burgers.
If you prefer a better burger with a less juvenile crows, try Mesa Grill 2 blocks west of magnolia on Bleecker. Better beer, too.

Ohmigod - I really shouldn't be typing after 11:00pm - it's MIRACLE Grill on Bleecker.
And yeah, wantsomesun has a point about the burgers at the White Horse - a bar reputed to be where Dylan Thomas drank himself to death . . .

Bistro is a good burger, but it's way crowded and yes, they are annoying frat people and yuppies...
White Horse is also a good burger and is where my mother and father met, so it's the reason I'm here today...
Another good burger in the area is Chelsea Grill on 8th Ave btw 16th & 17th. It's our burger joint of choice, very neighborhood. FWIW, it's one of Zagats 5 best burgers in NY.

Spotted Pig has HUGE burgers, and they are quite good. There waits are usually very long, but I'm sure for lunch its easier. I would give them a call before you go. The burger comes with shoestring fries (delicious!). Another excellent appetizer there is the Gnuddi...similar to a gnocchi.

Corner Bistro for a very long time held the title for best burger in New York. It may have been supplanted but I can certainly see someone wanting to give it a try. I like the place.
And I also agree that the nearby Miracle Bar and Grill is terrific all around, including food and maragaritas.
