Denise...
GREAT report, I felt like I was there looking over your shoulder during all the terrific meals!
My mouth is watering just reading about Le Bernadine, and of course yours and my favorite champagne...Billecart! ;-)
I'm definitely going to note some of the restaurants you went to for my future NYC trips!
Now time to check out your photos!

Thanks again, Denise!
If you are feeling ambitious, you can create one of Maialino's most popular dishes at home, to tide you over until you return to NYC:

Denise, no way to champagne at the King Cole Bar. You MUST go back and get the bloody mary! It was created at that bar, after all.
I gained 8 lbs just reading your report, and another 5 looking at the photos, lol.. How do you keep that girlish figure of yours. Oh, to be younger again...

I am in NYC this weekend and I had a WONDERFUL meal last night that I wanted to share here. We are at the Roosevelt hotel and around the corner at Madison and 45th called Ammos. Greek seafood run by a familyly prepared mediterainain style. Very good and fresh and great service. Will go there again. Reasonably priced for fresh seafood in NYC.
Also had drinks at the rooftop bar at the Roosevelt. Very nice up there, small view of the east river.

Great report, Denise, thanks.
Our first stop after arriving last weekend was Maialino. Just snacks, really (bar menu from 2-5), but they were so good, I can't wait to go back for an actual meal. Loved the space, and the view from the bar is hard to beat. Great wine list, too.

Just one more thing about Ammos. For NYC, there is a lot of space in this restaurant. High ceilings, very open, and lots of space btwn. the tables, such a rare thing in NYC.
The food was so good there. I think it is one of the best seafood dinners I have had ever, anywhere, even in Greece.
We had an octopus appetizer that I was not excited about having (octopus has never appealed to me, I thought it woul dbe rubbery), my friend ordered it. It blew me away, very tender, perfectly prepared w/fennel and capers and red wine. The scallops app was also incredible, big meaty tasty scallops, a reduction sauce, on top of fresh beets - yum.
I had a Sinagrida, whole fresh grilled red snapper, again perfect, just olive oil and some herbs. The waiter brought over 6-7 fresh fish to show us. My friend had Lavraki, a branzino fish, simply grilled, amazingly good. We ordered the fresh greens side and the lemon potatoes, and had their Greek Manouri cheesecake for dessert. And a bottle of white wine from Santorini.
Best dinner experience I have had in NYC in a long time. I can not wait to take my husband there.

putting Ammos on my list for next time...we love octopus!
LCI...thanks, I follow Chef Ripert on Twitter and got the review link from there! I beg you to sit on line and wait for the reservations to open up for your trip and make sure to go!!!
I would be thrilled to just to the lounge for the $45 lunch...less choice but the same food. Can't say enough good things about it and dying to go back.
