NYC Fodorites: Craft?

I'm eating at Craft this weekend (not my first choice) and does anyone have any tips?

I'm wearing a strapless black dress and heels so I'm assuming I will not be overdressed.

My tip: bring extra cash or a no limit credit card . . . .

No seriously, the food is very good, but it's all about the quality of the ingredients. The preparations that work best to my mind are the ones that let the basic flavor of the dish shine through. The meats and fish are uniformly of the highest quality - and the prices reflect that. I've found if you have the seasonal specialties - say right now, things like King salmon and english peas and strawberries (not all together) you can have a spectacular meal. But it ain't cheap.

As MP indicated, the menu is seasonal. The last time I went was winter, so doubt I can help you. It was delicious, though. You will look fine in a sundress (not an evening gown, I assume) and heels.

LOL! No, not an evening gown. It is a black cotton/spandex strapless dress that hits about mid calf. My shoes are some funky brown leather Miu Miu platforms.

I'm planning on spending about $150 myself with dinner and wine. Is that about right?

oh yes - $150 should cover 3 courses and wine tax and tip - as long as you avoid Wagyu beef and superTuscans!

Had dinner at Craft recently -- the food was great and I really didn't think it was exorbitantly priced. You will look fabulous and fit right in in a black, strapless dress.

Oh you'll look great - and I know you know to bring a shrug or a shawl or a light sweater, right? When it gets as hot as it's been lately, a lot of place crank up the AC and it can be FREEZING inside and boiling outside!
