While you're at Westminster, be prepared for CROWDS. At certain points, it's almost impossible to move around. (For exhibitors, the grooming/prep areas are also extremely tight).
During breed judging, seats aren't too bad, if your breed isn't one of the most popular--I was able to get a pretty good seat to watch "my" breed (English cockers) getting judged. You don't need to dress up for that, FYI. Pants and a sweater are fine. If you've got tickets for the Group and BIS judging, that attracts the glamour crowd, so dress up. Have fun! (Next year, I plan to go to Crufts)

You can wear jeans most places during the day, especially if you wear something nice on top (blazer, nice shirt, sweater). The theater has gotten pretty casual too. Almost anything goes. But if you're planning to have dinner at a fancier place you might feel more comfortable in something nicer than jeans.
It's true on the last night, the BIS crowd get really dolled up.
