NYC cab question
I am planning to go to NYC soon and not sure if a cab from Manhattan will set tire in Brooklyn. It would be a short trip from Battery Park to Brooklyn Bridge Park. I would not think it would be too much of a hassle, but have heard stories of refusal of the cabbies being rather adamant. Any thoughts or other ideas of getting to and from these 2 points would be greatly appreciated.

NYC cabs are required to go everywhere in the 5 boroughs - and on the meter - except for flat fares for JFK. However, if going outside of Manhattan do know the exact address of where you want to go and how to get there (print out a google map if necessary).
Drivers typically know places in Manhattan below 96th St and the airports - but in other boroughs they often lack detailed knowledge.
And whatever you do, do not ask the driver from outside if he will go there. What you do is first get in and THEN tell them where you are going - as long as it's within the city. Outside the city they have the right to refuse.

If you prefer to use the subway, www.hopstop.com is one site for plotting routes.
