NYC/Altar Boyz Tickets

We'd like to see Altar Boyz in May. I read on another thread that the theatre has "no bad seats." I would obviously prefer getting tickets at a discount, so do you agree that there are no bad seats?

I bought Wicked tickets in January (for late May), row x orchestra at regular price. Another poster said I'd need binoculars. I'm happy to have the tickets, but not so happy about needing binoculars, 3 pairs.

So, I especially want good seats for Altar Boyz. Would it make a big difference if I buy full-price tickets now versus waiting for the discount? Will we really need binoculars at Wicked?

Altar Boyz is playing in a small off-Broadway theatre, and there are only orchestra seats. You shouldn't have trouble seeing the stage from any seat in the house.

Thanks TarheelsinNJ.

Will I really need binoculars for Wicked at the Gershwin (row x orchestra)?

That depends on what you want to see. If you're looking to see the actors' faces, then yes, you'll need them! But I saw Wicked from the very last row of the theatre, and was able to see the overall production just fine.

That being said, I would definitely bring them if you have them. It never hurts!

I guess I don't understand your question. What does getting a discount have to do with the good seats? With most discount codes you still get the best seats available. If you call for a certain date, you will probably end up with the same seats whether you pay full price or use a discount.

And yes, the theatre for AltarBoyz is MUCH smaller than Wicked's, and all seats are good.

I was unclear, wasn't I?! Since the tickets for Altar Boyz are not yet discounted for late in May when I will be there, I wondered if I should buy them now (full price) to get the best seats. The truth is that I don't care about having the best seats, but I do want to be close enough to see the actors' faces. Thanks.

NeoPatrick, I couldn't believe you saw all those plays in one trip. That must have been a really fun trip.

Yes, but it is typical. In London or New York we tend to always see at least one show per day, and two shows every day there are two.

I personally would hold off. I can't imagine there not being discounts extended as they've been discounting that show for ages. And you will certainly still be able to get good seats at discount.

I would definitely go for the cheap seats. A couple weeks ago we saw a very good touring company of Altar Boyz in Seattle. At 90 minutes (no intermission) it is "real cute," but it as light as one of those wafers they give out at mass.

Thanks happytrailstoyou. That's perfect for us since we picked it especially for our real cute 14-yr.-old daughter. Her boyfriend is in a "band."

NeoPatrick, This is only our second trip to NYC so we are still getting to know the city. I do love the idea of seeing a play everyday, maybe on a trip with just me and my husband.
