NYC

Could you please suggest a bar (not fancy please) that serves good drinks and is not too expensive. I would like one for before dinner drinks around Artisinal or near my hotel Hilton NY and one for the night we will dine around Little Italy. Thank you so much!

You should definitely check out www.sheckys.com for bar recommendations.

Near Little Italy - O'Nieals Grand Street is an upscale bar and restaurant. It's PERFECT for drinks, and one of my favorite bars in general. It used to be connected to the police headquarters via an underground tunnel, and they'll usually show it to you if you ask (it's now a wine cellar). Also, if you're a Sex and the City fan, Aidan and Steve's bar, Scout, was filmed at O'Nieals.

The address for O'Nieals is 174 Grand Street (Grand and Center Market Square). It's right around the corner (literally) from Little Italy.

The Shelburne Hotel in Murray Hill is near Artisanal and has a great rooftop bar, if you are planning to visit in the summer. It's located on Lexington between 37th and 38th.

Thank you lizziea06! I will check sheckys out. The rooftop bar sounds lovely.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the bar at the Shelburne (Rare View) is a little pricey. It has great views, but you will pay out the nose for drinks. You didn't mention how old you were, but it attracts a younger (mid-20s) crowd.

Another bar in the hood is The Ginger Man on 36th b/t 5th and Mad. It doesn't have outdoor space, but it's a really nice bar to grab a beer. The crowd will be a bit more age-dispersed.

O'Nieals is for any age, so I wouldn't have any issue with going there.

I's also suggest the Flute Bar www.flutebar.com as another nice suggestion. There are 2 locations one close to your hotel and one near the Flatiron Building in the 20's.

Have a great time while you are here.
