NYC - 2nd time around!
My husband and I went to NYC for the first time last October and fell in love with the city so much we've planned another trip for April 7th-11th (for our 3rd wedding anniversary and my b-day, which is one in the same day). On our first trip we covered all the major NYC sites, Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, Empire State Bldg, WTC, Letterman, etc. (complete trip report on Fodors) but would like advice for our 2nd trip in terms of other great things to do in the city. What are some of your more memorable experiences?
I've seen the UN tour, Tenement Museum, and Lincoln Center tours discussed on this forum in terms of people's itineraries, but have trouble finding trip reports of people's opinions after they went. Any other suggestions of other activities would be greatly appreciated!

The 3 tours you mention all get very good reviews. I would also concentrate on some of the neighborhoods outside of midtown like Soho, the village etc. There are some popular walking tours, some free and some paid. The Foodsofny.com tour of the village and chelsea is popular. Bigonion.com also does one. There's a pub tour, a writer's tour....just depends on your interests.

Another option I just remembered is getting the deck of cards of NYC walks to do on your own

I haven't done the Lincoln Center tour, but thought the UN and Tenement Museum tours were excellent.
The mani reason we go to NYC is for the theater.
Have you been to:
MoMA
Frick Museum
Rockefeller Center
Museum of Natural History
Metropolitan Museum of Art
Cloisters

abram, thanks for the feedback on the tours! We love the theater too! We're planning 2-3 nights spent there. (Are leaving it up to fate at the TKTS booth).
Of your list of places, the only we've been to was Rockefeller Center. We had planned on the Moma on our last visit, but didn't make it. For sure we'll be going to one of the museums on our next visit. Do you have a favorite museum to recommend if we only have time for one?

The museums are all very different. It depends on how much time you have and what you like. If you're not really a museum person, you might consider the Frick. It's very small (so not a big time commitment) and it's not just art hanging on a wall. You're inside someone's actual home with furniture and get a feeling for what it was like to live (very high on the hog) in early Manhattan.

The Frick is lovely, and they offer an audio guide so be sure to rent it for a better understanding of the museum. Also the Municipal arts society offers some really nice tours, you might want to check out their website at http://www.mas.org/Events/tours.cfm
Enjoy your trip!
