NY Sky Ride

Has anyone been on the NY Sky Ride in the ESB? What did you think?

I'm picturing it as being similar to a ride at Disney's California Adventure that I went on a few years ago, I think it was called something like "California Soaring". You "flew" (via virtual reality) over various parts of California and it was fantastic - hands down my favourite ride in Anaheim.

Is the NY ride the same type of thing? Is it worth doing?

Thanks, P'chook

It's absolutely NOT worth doing. Huge waste of money and time. http://www.yelp.com/biz/ny-skyride-new-york

It is absolutely nothing like Soarin' It's a cheap motion simulator ride, and it's a horrible experience. Not at all worth doing.

Personally, i couldn't disagree more with the two negative reviews above. i think skyride was one of the highlights of our family's trip to NYC. not only does it get you out of the hot summer sun for an hour or so, i thought it was a cleverly designed attraction that allows those of us that can't afford a city-wide helicopter tour of the city a way to get a nice impression of the city (both it's history and it's iconic images and cityscape). would be happy to recommend it to anyone going to NYC. our 3 kids (ages 10 through 14) enjoyed it as well.

I'll chime in to say absolutely DO NOT waste your money or, more importantly, your time on this. Recent out of town guests did it for the kids and were seriously disappointed. You have a pretty packed itinerary and there are so many other things to do.

A colleague of mine did it with her kids (they insisted) and she said it was a total waste of time and money. there are so many real tings to do and see - why waste time on fake?
