NY Hotel over New Year

Hi

I've managed to get cheap flights from London to NY from 28th Dec to 6th Jan.
Looking for a hotel. I know no NY hotels are 'cheap' this time of year but looking for some suggestions of reasonably priced hotels in good areas.
We stayed at the Michelangelo in July and thought that location was perfect but it's too expensive to go back there. Is there anywhere you could reccomend near that area???

Many thanks

Martin

Martin,

Nowhere were you stay. Hotels strive to make extra $$ during this time of the year. So you'll probably be looking at mid $200 and more for an OK hotel.

I think you can do much better. Though it's a bit late to book for such a long stay over New Year's, and rates over New Year's will be considerably higher, no matter the hotel, the rates just before and after will be very reasonable - especially after.

Have a look at the group of hotels at www.newyorkhotel.com

All are well located, though a block or two less convenient than the pricier places. Check reviews at TripAdvisor.com for each and do a bit of checking for your dates.

I would recommend booking something forthwith, then keep shopping if you like, as New Year's may be booked up soon.

I know it may not work at that time of year - but have you looked at Priceline? Agree with the suggestion to book something refundable now and then look at Priceline a couple of weeks out. You never know, something may turn up.

The pound is so strong against the dollar I think almost anything should feel like a bargain Martin. Prices from Jan2-6 should drop drastically which would offset the high price for the New Year.

I'd suggest looking in an area other than Times Square. You've already stayed there and it will be pricier b/c of the NYE activity.

What price are you looking to pay?
