NY Hotel Near Hilton

I have to attend a conference in NY next month. The conference is being held at The Hilton 1335 Avenue of the Americas and is sold out. Can anyone suggest the closest hotel to this one that's decent?
Thanks.

The Sheraton New York and the Sheraton Manhattan are both a block away.

Thanks, Righa is $850 a night for my dates. Both Sheartons have space, both still almost $600 per night with taxes but looks like that's the route I have to take.

A more reasonable hotel also about a block away is The Blakely New York (formerly Gorham) on 55th St.

$600 a night for the Sheraton, yikes! The Wellington Hotel, about a block away from the Hilton might be an option. An older property and maybe a step below the Sheraton class.

The Blakely looks great, perfectly located and the right price, but it's sold out for Nov 5. NY is booked solid everywhere, I am told due to The Latin Grammys and the NYC Marathon, neither of which I am participating in;-)

The marathon is gonna be a problem for you. I don't know that you'll find anything, forgetting about location. Look on quikbook.com for your dates and see what's available and report back.

Ooh, marathon weekend will sell out.

I would just try and get something for around $300 per night. Unfortunately, that rate is a bargain rate that weekend.

Ameritania Hotel is convenient. The Omni Berkshire is close enough as well. The good part is that there are several within a quick walking distance from the Hilton. Sheraton at $600/night is highway robbery, no matter what the wkend. offers!

It's not highway robbery if it has the only rooms left. That's just capitalism at work - basic supply and demand.
