Ny difference WDW Dolphin or Swan Hotel?

Im planning a trip to Disney/MGM/Universal this summer. Was wondering if there was any difference between The WDW Dolphin or Swan hotel other than size. I belive they share the pools, little beach..... Is one closer than the other to the pools or are they equal distance? Is one closere to the boardwalk than the other? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've stayed at the Swan. The large waterfall pool is nearest to the Swan. The other pools are nearer to the Dolphin.
Almost equidistant from the Boardwalk... it really depends more where in the hotel your room is distance wise as the Dolphin is sooo big!
You can sign up for the Disney restaurant stuff at either hotel.
I think the Dolphin has a bigger, grander foyer if that interests you.
The Dolphin also had a tiny food bar open very early that we used once (I think it was Au Bon Pain or similar).

The Dolphin has a much loarger lobby which makes it more lively than the Swan. They also have the "malt shop" type restaurant which is a lively place.
The Swan is more sedate. We love them both.

Ended up booking the Dolphin after finding out that the rooms are somewhat larger than at the Swan. Might possibly need a rollaway bed in room as my sons tend to be crazy sleepers & will do better in their OWN beds. The Swan's rooms will not fit a rollaway (per the hotel).

I stayed at the Dolphin. You will enjoy it. Now, forget about about the room and just enjoy your vacation!!!!!
