"North Shore" premier
A new series on the Fox network (ch.5 on the east coast mainland) debuted last night.
So far it is more along the lines of a soap opera featuring a fictional hotel "Grand Waimea", nonetheless, inspiring glimpses of Hawaii's beauty managed to keep us tuned for the full

I enjoyed the scenery also, it was so wonderful to see some of the spots that I was visting only couple of weeks ago.
Have to agree though, the plot is a dud so far, maybe it will get better. As long as there is nothing better to watch, I'll keep tuned for the scenery

It is "North Shore." I read that the series was partly filmed at Turtle Bay, also at Ihilani Resort, and that there was filming done in other areas of the island. The real sharp eyes that know Hawaii well will enjoy picking out what ISN'T really the north shore!

"Lost" is a different program.
The state of Hawaii is trying hard to bring a lot of TV/film production to the state, mainly to promote tourism. They are giving tax breaks of incentives for such production, as long as they don't specifically says the location is SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN Hawaii (for example, the Congo scenes in last season's ER, according to the Wall Street Journal).

While visiting Maui, a local newscast announced that the "North Shore" series was canceled citing excessive production costs, leaving the "Lost" series the last series still in
production in Hawaii.
Aloha.
