I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas. I love to play craps, but I have bronchitis and will have little or no tolerance for cigarette smoke on this trip.

Without flaming me, or beginning a debate on smoking regulations etc., could anybody tell me which casinos have non-smoking rooms (not hotel rooms but gambling rooms)?

None? OK, well if that's the case (I'm hoping it's not), do any have non-smoking tables?

geeze, take it to the OTHER thread - the man asked for advice. He said "this trip" - did u ever consider he has bronchitis AT THIS TIME and is more sensitive AT THIS TIME. for crissakes, he didn't put down smoking, he asked a simple travel question.

No, haven't posted before. Yes, have run into the problem before, but I wasn't suffering from bronchitis.

I've seen many of the prior posts. In between all the ranting and raving on both sides, some have mentioned that there are non-smoking tables at some casinos, but they don't mention which ones.

I'm only there for one night on my way to Death Valley (no pun intended), so a specific recomendation would be much appreciated.

I don't know of any....maybe "Vegas Vic" will respond to your question....he knows Vega$ pretty well. I would guess early in the morning would be a good time to avoid the smoke...Good Luck.

Specific tables and corners of various casinos are now non-smoking in LV (mostly in the newer hotels), but casinos have not yet been able to determine that they can profitably sector off large portions of a casino for non-smokers. It's been tested.
This is a note from the Las Vegas Review Journal:

"Forty percent to 50 percent of casino gamblers are smokers, about double the percentage of the U.S. population as a whole. A 1993 gaming-industry study showed that Nevada casinos alone would have lost $1 billion in revenue if casinos were forced to go smoke-free".

"It's not just the loss of customers, but also the loss of gambling time - 12 percent less time for smokers. They would spend that time going out for a smoke".

"The industry will get a glimpse of the possible future beginning Nov. 27, 2002, when the three Delaware racetracks become the first casino jurisdiction to go smoke-free as part of a broader state law".

Fort McDowell Casino
NW corner of Fort McDowell Road and State Route 87
Has some smokefree accommodation: most casinos and cardrooms are very smoky. Fort McDowell Casino has a newly remodeled, non-smoking cardroom. Also, ALL poker tournaments are totally non-smoking. Tableside food and beverage service is available.

A large casino and hotel resort run by the Pequot Indian Nation. Has a number of casinos, a poker room, bingo hall and slot machines. The downstairs casino is nonsmoking.

Gaming (slot machines, table games - blackjack, roulette, craps, stud, baccarat, poker), live entertainment and dining. The third floor of the four-level casino is for nonsmokers.

Has two casinos, one non-smoking. Has the usual assortment of craps, roulette, poker, blackjack, baccarat, keno, sports book and every other form of legal gambling available in Nevada. The best part is the two large smoke-free casino areas that are accessible without going through the smoky casinos.

The poker room is nonsmoking.

Has a nonsmoking poker room with about fifty tables.

Again, not intending to start up the old debate here.

I was just asking the same simple quesion and got bashed for it, it you come up with any places non smoking, let me know also.

If you can't ask a quesion on this post without getting your head chewed off, then we are in big trouble.

I don't remember which hotel, or hotels, but there definitely are tables that are NO smoking in Las Vegas.

I don't know about craps, but they have a non-smoking poker room at the Mirage. Its really nice to have the break. I love Vegas too. Am not allergic, or whatever, but do get annoyed no matter how much I tell myself to "buck up." So I can relate. Also the newer and better casinos have better ventilation so that the smoke is not so bad. Avoid hanging out in the sports book. That's where it always seems the worst.

yes, there are some non-smoking tables in most of the casinos, mostly blackjack but also a few other table games. But often they are the ones with little or no play. Sometimes thay are closed off because there is no demand.

And in most it really doesn't help much because they are just at the side of the general smoking areas. As mentioned, one or two have non smoking rooms set aside. but the crowds - and therefore profits - are in the smoking sections.

The only casino that I know of that has a dedicated non-smoking casino is Harrah's Laughlin. It is seperated from the main casino by a wall and the front desk area. It has several table games and about 100 slot machines - all non-smoking. Can't remember whether they have craps or not, but definitely remember 21 and roulette.

In Las Vegas, you will find designated non-smoking tables sporadically placed in most casinos, but they tend to be 21 tables.

Your best bet is probably to play in the newer casinos that have high ceilings and good ventilation systems, like Mandalay Bay or Venetian. Also, if you confine your play to less busy times, like the morning, you have a good shot at being able to play without being bothered by smoke.
