NOLA to Mobile

I plan to be in Mobile for a week in February. I will not need a car while I'm there.

I'd like to add a few days in New Orleans at one end or the other, and I know I won't need a car there.

So my question is this: Is there a convenient way to get to and from Mobile from MSY without renting a car?

I've already looked into ground transportation at the airport and found a shuttle bus that goes as far as Biloxi. Amtrak goes to Mobile, but arrives at 3:30 am.

this may be a dead end--but try the bus--like Greyhound?
I too had this same problem--
I took Amtrak because out here in the west it is always late I-2 hrs. sometimes...So I took a chance--and was not disappointed..It was late into NO and did not get into Mobile until 5:30 AM..I had breakfast and the went to my meeting!!!! On return I was lucky enough to get a ride to Biloxi and took the shuttle to NO.
Good luck..
I was also there in Feb...rained 2 days out of 4 but still had a great time..
BE SURE to have coffee and a bignet
at Cafe DuMonde---

Greyhound (or other bus lines if exist) is the only reasonable way to do it. [You may even find some free, near free, or even cash-back casino buses via Biloxi, but I don't know the details.] AMTRAK is not a reasonable transport for this trip, as by the time the Sunset Limited made its way from LA to New Orleans, it could already be 3, 10 or 72 hours late. And even if it's on-time, then the 2:20am arrival time is extremely inconvenient; plus the train is very slow. Greyhound's schedule calls for <2.5 hours, while AMTRAK is close to 4, for this 150 mile trip.

I'd say Greyhound is the way... there are 7 buses daily that take between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours between the 2 cities. Last Dec., I took a bus from NOLA-SA and luckily the New Orleans bus station is conveniently located in the same transport hub as the train station, right near the Lower Garden District.

This may take some research on your part, but I'd look into that casino bus idea. I know there are bus routes from N.O. to the gulf coast casinos, so I'd assume they also run from the casinos to Mobile? May try calling Beau Rivage, Grand Casino or Isle of Capri, among others, to find out.
