NO hotel

My husband & I are making our first NO trip over the labor day weekend. We are very exicited about the trip. I have been reading all the comment about the hotels and it’s so difficult to decide on one. I am thinking about the ones:

Windsor Court - $250/night, jr suite
Soniat - $150 for a room on the third floor with a king bed I have reserved
Monteleone - $180 for std room king size

It’s tough because I hear most good review for these, but also some pretty disappointing ones. Sounds like because they are old, many has not been updated, even Windsor which is newer than others. If you have stayed at any of these, please help me with your suggestion of good/bad rooms. I am so lost. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!Nancy

Nancy - My husband and I stayed at the Windsor Court a few years ago. It is a really lovely hotel and I can't imagine anyone thinking it's in less than perfect condition. However, it's got absolutely no New Orleans ambience. For that reason alone, we haven't been back there. I've never stayed at the Monteleone or the Soniat House, though both get really good recommendations. All three of your selections are listed among Fodor's favorite places to stay, so I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them.

Just returned from N.O. on July 23. We stayed at the Soniat House. It is very nice. We had a beautiful room on the second floor but due to air conditioner problems we were moved across the street to a suite. The suite was fantastic. The hotel staff are very helpful and seem to really care about their guests.

I haven't stayed at the Monteleone - but my parents and several friends have. They all really liked it.

Sounds like all 3 places are nice - so just go with the best rate

The Monteleone is great...ask for a room on a high floor...the street party in NO goes on all night and if you are low down you won't sleep...SSS
