Night on the Town: San Francisco

My husband and I will be in San Francisco in two weeks. Where's the best hot spot on a Saturday night? The Castro area?

Umm...it really depends on your definition of "hot spot".

But just for fun check out Beach Blanket Babylon....its a really outrageous review.

If that is not your thing then somebody else will have to help you.....

I am not particularly interested in the Castro area, unless I feel like getting a kick ut of somebody else's lifestyle, which I do not.

Are you interested in hot music places, or what?

Have fun.

Though we are in our 30's (gasp!!) we still enjoy the club and bar scene. A pub, a music spot, a dance club . . . ?

Had a great meal the other night at Sneaky Tiki.

The Castro area will be an eye-opener to alternative lifestyles in the absence of procreation.

Have you looked into Ruby Skye, or the Sound Factory?

If you do choose the Castro - and why not? - you should consider dinner at Mecca (very good food in a clubby feel) or if you want small dishes to share I've heard that Lime can be a fun place (though I think it would be more categorized as a bar with food as opposed to a restaurant with a bar.

Cafe Du Nord is a big club with a mixed crowd of people who are more into dancing and having fun rather than caring about who is straight or gay.

Ready for a nightcap? Head down to Martuni's for some cha-cha drinks and an optional (yet always crowded) piano bar.

Union Street (not Union Square) is hip and fun at night. Enrico's or most places on Broadway are also.

If you go to Enrico's you are near a lot of bars...15 Romolo, Vesuvio, and Tosca are ones I like, but there are many more. Impala, which is right across the street from, has dancing downstairs on Saturday nights.
