Nice Place to stay in Providence

I have stayed at the Biltmore and the Westin. The rates are pretty high if you can't get a deal. Convention rate at the Westin is $157. I like it better than the Biltmore because it is attached by a skyway to the indoor mall Providence Place. The room we had at the Biltmore was much larger with a sitting area. I haven't tried Priceline for these hotels. Rates are a lot cheaper if you stay in Warwick. The drive is about 10 minutes but by staying in town you can walk to a lot of great restaurants. If you happen to be there during Waterfire (check the schedule) try to get a room with a view of the canal. My husband hates driving in congested areas so we opt for the Westin. Park the car and don't get in it again until we leave.

The Westin or the Marriott Courtyard are the best and right downtown. The Westin is connected by a Skybridge to the Providence Place Mall and is more full-service. The Marriott serves breakfast and has a bar for the afternoon and night, but is not full service.
The Biltmore has been renovated but the rooms are still older.
Check to see when waterfire is, it's a great experience. You can ride around in gondolas during the event.

Thanks for the recs. Also looking for places in Chatham?????????
Sure appreciate this website and all the help. So hard to make decisions out of a guide book when you don't know the area at all. We're spending a week in NE.....heading north from the Cape to see the fall colors. Positive comments would be greatly appreciated.

In Warwick the Sheraton might have a decent senior rate.
In lovely Chatham, the Chatham Bars Inn is a favorite, though it might be too pricey unless you can snag a senior package special. www.queenanneinn.com is another good choice.

If your heading North from the cape, I would definitely hit Cape ann N/O Boston..absolutely beautiful..lots of inns and hotels at all rates...pick up a 'Cape anne Guide' that lists them all, if u go up.
I got a great deal at a beautiful inn/Emerson Inn, on the ocean...called the day of, and they had rooms to dump, fairly dirt cheap. ($85).normally $150+
