Providence R.I. hotel choice--help!

I need help! Trying to decide between 3 hotels for Memorial Day weekend. They are Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, and the Marriott. There are 3 females, and we want a hotel close to everything, and safe to walk around at night. Any advice?

**Need to know ASAP as reservations are going FAST!!

If cost is not a concern definitely stay at the Marriott. It's the most modern, biggest, tallest, right in downtown, with a bridge to the Providence Place Mall, the river right underneath it.

I'd add that the Courtyard is actually newer, and is right across the street from the Marriott. That'd be my 2nd choice, and should be cheapert. I'd skip the Holiday Inn.

Oh, actually, the Providence Marriott is a smaller hotel North of Downtown. I was thinking about the Westin. Get the Courtyard instead. Sorry about the confusion.

Again, final answer: Courtyard.

I've stayed at both the Courtyard and Westin in the past year. I'd recommend the Westin hands down. The Courtyard is fine, but it's a little dreary and certainly nothing special. Bed OK but not great.
While the Westin is not the jewel of that chain, it's is very good shape, is connected to Providence Place, and the beds are great. The shower head in the bathroom was very powerful (always a big plus in my book).
It's overpriced most of the time, but that's because there's so little in the way of competition in Providence.

My sister and BIL had to stay at the Courtyard once and hated the beds. We like the Westin but we are staying there on lower convention rates. I have also stayed at the Biltmore which is across the street. 4 females shared a huge room with a large sitting area on some kind of weekend deal several years ago. I would check their rates as well. It's only one more block away from the mall.

I thought I'd write to wrap up this thread about what hotel we chose. We opted for Courtyard Marriott, and we loved it! I don't know what people's problems were with the beds, but ours were very comfortable. The hotel was in great shape, and the location could not have been more convenient for us, as we didn't have a car and the trolley pickup was right down the street. Plus, the riverwalk was across the way, and the mall a short walk away. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Providence.
