Nice Overnight Motel Between Sarasota & Key West?

Any recommendations for a nice place to stay for 1 night in between Sarasota and Key West? It's a long ride and we'd like to break it up. Sp we're looking for any recommendations you may have. By the way, I have no idea what route we're taking so we're open to all suggestions and will decide on our route based on the suggestions we get from you guys. Thanks in advance.

The most logical route would be down and across I-75 to the Fla. Turnpike and then south towards the Keys.
You could stop for a night in Naples, but after that your next logical stop would probably be Key Largo -- neither one exactly a half-way point.

Consider Everglades City off Rt 41. for something closer to halfway. Look at Captain's Table Lodge & Villas. www.capttable.com No personal experience here, just the right general location.

I'd go to Miami. Get a place in South Beach and enjoy the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the western hemisphere. I've not stayed there in awhile but there are some good recs on this forum is you search South Beach. From there you'll have four hours to Key West.

South Beach is the place to stop...your night there will be high point in your trip, even if you just walk around and people watch!! Try the Crowne Plaza Royal Palms Resort... its convenient to the Ocean Drive strip, right next to the pricier Lowes (with Emerils) and reasonably priced... you can also join the Priorty Club online and often get special discounts, upgrades, and offers. Its also directly on the ocean so leave Sarasota early and spend the afternoon on the beach, and the evening on Ocean Drive... have fun.
