Nice, cheap hotels near West Palm Beach?
Is there such a thing? Ok, I used to work for a high-class hotel...so I know they offer unadvertised deals...especially on weekends (but maybe not in Florida where the vacationer is ALWAYS there)...anyway I need to attend a wedding near West Palm Beach in early March...wondering if anyone has any recs. or know of ways to get good rates in the area. I can also stay further out...like Ft. Lauderdale and possibly Orlando (where I know I can get a great rate)...but of course...that means driving a lot! Any help would be much appreciated...need to book this soon! I am strapped for cash after going to Germany and Austria this fall so any help would be GREAT! Thanks in advance!!!

Have you checked on the rates currently being offered for your dates? You might want to give priceline or hotwire a try. Check www.biddingfortravel.com for your area to see what others have gotten and for good places to check rates, then give bidding a try. I have not yet been disappointed by priceline hotels, so I am always eager to give them a try!
A few years ago I spent quite a bit of time in the Jupiter area (just north of WPB) for work. My preferred hotel was the Embassy Suites on PGA - very nice, all suite rooms, good location. I never had to deal with pricing, though. I did stay a few times at the DoubleTree across PGA from there and was not impressed. The rooms were smaller and not as nice, and many of them faced the freeway and had a lot of noise. A courtyard room would probably be OK, but nothing special. The Hampton Inn there (can't remember the street, but it's less than a mile from Embassy Suites) is OK. I'd put it between the Embassy Suites and DoubleTree in terms of quality, but the location is reasonably quiet.
I did also stay once at the Jupiter Beach Resort (I think that's what it's called). I was extremely disappointed! Everything smelled musty and seemed very old. It is right on the beach, but I would rather stay in a cleaner hotel and drive to the beach than stay there!

You stated "near" WPB; how about "in" West Palm Beach? There are a few:
1. Best Western Palm Beach Lakes Inn
2. Comfort Inn Palm Beach Lakes
3. Courtyard by Marriott- WPB
4. Red Roof Inn - WPB
5. Studio 6 Extended Stay - their phone # is: 561-640-3335.
All the rates for these properties seem to be low. Ft. Lauderdale would be higher in March & Orlando is totally out of the way.
Enjoy our great State!

The week of your stay, you can check out last-minute weekend deals at Holiday Inns in the area by visiting weekendwebsavers.com
Also, check out hotelkingdom.com which sometimes has lower rates than booking directly with the hotels.

We stayed at the West Palm Beach Wellesley Inn, two I-95 exits north of the PBI airport. Scruffy. Poorly maintained. When we phoned the previous day, we were quoted $68 and got it. However, while near the desk, I heard the clerk explain to an phone inquirer that the rate that night was $99. I guess they were filling up quickly.
