Niagara on the Lake restaurants

I seem to be having trouble posting this on the Canadian board, so I thought I'd try it here. I'm looking for a restaurant for dinner this Sunday, for my family which includes two older teenagers. I'm not looking for fine dining, but would like good food in a nice setting, preferably right in town. Not looking for winery or hotel dining. Thanks for your help.

I would recommend The Epicurean Restaurant & Bistro. Very good food and casual setting. http://www.epicurean.ca/

We ate at the Angel Inn, it's off the main road but in town - Very English!

I had a Ploughmans Lunch and DH had Shepherds Pie. Nice food and really felt like a 'pub', it was strange to hear so many English accents though - perhaps it's a haunt for the ex-pats?

Oh, yes, the Angel Inn. A pub atmosphere. We didn't eat there, just drinks, but the place seemed pretty popular. We were up there right when they passed the no smoking law. It was nice to be in a pub without all the smoke.

Epicurian is fabulous.

Also the restaurant at Queen's Landing Inn (where the cocktail lounge menu is exceptional as well). It's "hotel dining" but exceptional in every way.

There's a couple of responses on the Canada forum now which might help too.

Unfortunately, most of the highly recommended restaurants in Niagara on the Lake ARE associated with hotels or wineries and tend to be on the more formal side, so there are not many choices for a family setting with teenagers.

The suggestions that have been given are probably the best given your needs but check the other post for websites with menus.

Heres another vote for the Angel Inn. It is on Regent street just off the main st. We have ate in the pub there a few times. Food was very good. My husband ordered the chicken and peach pot pie. It was excellent.

The Epicurean Restaurant & Bistro
is great, our favorite.
Great variety and moderately
priced.
I think we need to make another
trip there, ourselves.
