Whats it like? Crowds, openings or closings of attractions, weather, rates, any thoughts about a weekend there in mid-November?

Cold, possibly very snowy and some things closed. Check out the web sites of the Maid of the Mist et al to see if they are still operating(I think it's too late).

It is indeed too late for the Maid of the Mist, which has already stopped operating for the season.

I've been to Niagara Falls three times, always in early December, always for just a night and a half of a day, as a stopover on a road trip that I was taking for other reasons. I think the lowest temperature I ever encountered was probably in the mid teens, at night, but it usually wasn't so bad during the day. I've seen some light snow, but without significant accumulation. The roads have always been fine for driving. The towns were pretty empty, and I had no trouble choosing any hotel I wanted. I guess rates were probably much lower than in peak season.

I regretted not being able to go on the Maid of the Mist, which seemed like a great experience, but other than that I didn't really feel like I was missing too much.

slow season. Maid of Mist done for the season, as are any of the things that take place in the water. weather is all over the map here that time of year. could be in the 60s, could be in the 30s. Not likely to be colder than that. Niagara Falls gets less snow than it's neighbor, Buffalo, so snow shouldn't be an issue. Leaves on the trees will be pretty much gone except for a few species. pro: no crowds, probably good prices on hotels, weather not real cold or snowy. con: not a particular pretty time of year-leaves down, but no snow or ice which makes the falls look really cool. try to paln a detour to Niagara on the Lake-a lovely town @20-30 minutes away on Lake Ontario-great shopes, restaurants and theatre. will also be slow season there-great rates at hotels there too.

Also, plan on walking around Goat Island which is just across the bridge on the U.S. side. Cave of the Winds will be closed but the walk will bring you up close to the Falls and if it's not too cold will be lovely.

Some people really enjoy "Journey Behind the Falls." I would imagine that is open year round. I also recommend Walking Goat Island on the American side. It's a beautiful park. I've been there in November and it is still beautiful in the fall as it is any time of the year. I would think it would be beautiful if it was snowing lightly. I can picture it

I would go to Niagara Falls another time of the year if you can. The best attractions are closed in November and it's not a pretty time of the year as it's in between Fall and Winter.

I was in Niagara Falls 3 weeks ago on a golf trip. Was an amazing time typically once a year and this was one of the best times... We played Legends and Whirlpool. We lucked out getting the Hilton for just under $100/night through Hotels In Ontario. It was very busy though, we couldn't believe how many people were out. Summer is nice, but I would say try the fall too..

It isn't the prettiest time to go - autumn leaves already gone but probably not a pretty snowcover yet. Likely that it will be grey and chilly. That being said, the crowds will be gone and it probably won't be bone chillingly cold. Hotel rates should be good at that time of year. If staying on the Canadian side, look at the Fallsview hotels - there are a bunch, many with good views of the Falls from your room.
