New York supershuttle from JFK to Manhatten hotel

Hi all.

We are going to NYC next Saturday (can't wait as 1st time to NYC). Have booked and already paid for the supershuttle to take us to our hotel (Tudor Hotel at the United Nations) via Expedia way back in september when first booked trip.

However, we have heard lots of bad things (including from our friends) that seriosuly considering forgetting this and getting a yellow cab instead. Have already tried to cancel but advised that it is non-refundable, but even so, for a stress free start to our holiday, I am prepared to 'lose' the dollars already paid.

Any thoughts ?

If you have already paid for the shuttle, go, and think of the trip as part of a tour of the city. The shuttle will stop at several hotels and then yours, or may stop at yours earlier in the trip since your hotel is on the east side.

Um,,,,you know the rooms at the Tudor are small, and I mean small. I don't think I have ever seen a room smaller.
Granted you won't be spending alot of time in your room so I wanted you to be aware beforehand.

Don't use it. Chalk up the cost to experience. Get in a taxi from the taxi line (do NOT accept a ride from anyone that approaches you). OR, you can order a car service for about the same price as a taxi. limores.net, carmellimo.com dial7.com

To me, it all depends on whether you can afford to lose that money! If it doesn't make that much difference, then cancel. If you're on a tight budget, does that extra 30-60 minutes of potential travel time make that much difference in the overall scheme of things?
Hey, it's hardly something that'll ruin your trip!

One note: SuperShuttle into Manhattan is probably a waste of 45 minutes or an hour - not a disaster unless you have something planned for immediately after you arrive.

But SuperShuttle back to the airport can be a real disaster. They are VERY often late - and sometimes don;t show up at all. So - I hope you haven;t bought round trip tickets.

Thanks for your varied replies - I think we are going to put it down to experience and get a yellow cab from the taxi line at JFK and when we return order a cab the night bfore as we have an early flight home.

Travelbuff - thanks for the tip re Tudor hotel rooms, however, we have a triple room that will hopefully be a bit larger than a standard double, plus the hotel has already said they will upgrade us if there is availability as this is a special trip for us to celebrate our 40ths. In any case, we have so much planned that apart from sleeping and showering, we will be out all day and night enjoying the sights/shopping/food/shows etc.
