New York Hotels this weekend

We are booked at the Warwick in NYC this weekend for $199.00 per night (Fri-Sun). Is it worth my while to try a HotWire or Priceline bid for a hotel? If so, does anyone think a 4 star bid for $135.00 per night will fly? If not, it's OK, since we are looking forward to our stay at the Warwick, and the price is right. I look forward to everyone's replies.

If you can cancel without penalty, who wouldn't want to stay in a nicer hotel for less money? I truly doubt you'll get anything 4-star for $135, but you should check on Bidding For Travel to see.

The city is pretty full right now, TONS of tourists. I had to fight my way through Macy's this afternoon, and the sidewalks were completely full to over flowing midtown, so you may not have much luck with getting a room at that price, but hey go for it anyway.

Between all the people here for the Open and the europeans spending their so very valuable pounds and euros the city is packed.

You may have some luck. Wouldn't count on it.,

The Rock Center area (by my office) is completely swarming with tourists --every inch of the plaza is covered. Hotels for this weekend, I would think, would be pretty booked.
