New York hotels

My husband and I are debating between staying at Central Park Hotel or New York Helmsley in July. Website pricing is the same and they seem fairly comparable. Yet they are located at opposite ends. Any pros and cons to either areas or hotels ? Would appreciate any feedback. We are also open to other hotel suggestions at approx. $200-$225 US per night.

Is the "Central Park Hotel" the Ritz-Carlton? or do you mean the "Park Central"?

For a visitor to NYC, I think the Park Central has a better location. It is at 57th St and 7th Ave, walking distance to many popular sights and close to many subway lines.

New York Helmsley is on East 42nd St. It is not as close to as many popular sights and is close to only one subway line.

Not sure what you mean by located at opposite ends. They're both in midtown and central midtown at that. One is further east and the other further west. I think the Park Central is better if you want theater while the Hemlsley might be better if you want a lot of east side sights - either museums uptown or trendy downtown areas.

Where ar you planning on spending most of your time?
