New York Hilton and Towers??

I just got a winning bid for $100 for next weekend ....I am alittle worried because I used biddingfortravel.com to help me and some of the reviews were alittle wishy-washy....one woman complained about room size (actually several) but it's Manhattan and room size is always an issue, right??? any thoughts on this hotel...how about location to things???

It's a big hotel, lots of groups, conventions meetings, etc. I live in NYC so I've never stayed there, but have been there for many functions. It's what you'd expect from a Hilton, gets lots of business travelers. I've heard the rooms are small, but most are in NYC. I think you'll be fine.
As for location, it's on Sixth Avenue at 54th street, right in mid-town. Very close to Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue shopping, and not far from theatre district. Can easily get transportation to other areas, not far from subways. It's more of a commercial area in this section of midtown, but it's pretty centrally located. For that price, you shouldn't worry about it.

The location is excellent - right on 6th avenue within walking distance of times Square, Central Park Rockefeler Center and only a couple of blocks from the subway. This hotel is gigantic and is the standard business/convention Hilton with all the usual amenities. Just be aware that it is usually very crowded - and like most other hotels in Manhattan does not have the enormous rooms you find outside of the City.

We've stayed there many times with Hotwire and it's always been just fine.

I've stayed at the Hilton many times -- my former employer's offices were right across the street. It is large, it's crowded and it isn't fancy, but it is quite serviceable and it's in a great location for getting around (IMHO). I did not find the rooms to be any smaller than other similar hotels (the Sheraton around the corner on 7th was not nearly as nice). Your price is great; I wouldn't worry about it.

The location is the best feature of this hotel, everything else is just basic but having said that, it is still a deal for $100 a night - the rooms are clean and comfortable enough for that price.
