New York dinner reservations before braodway musical

How much time should I allow for dinner before a broadway show. I plan on making reservations on restaurant row for dinner before a show. One show is at 8PM and the other is at 7PM. Am thinking of making a reservaton for after the 7PM show. What time should I make a reservation, in order to allow me to make an 8PM show.

As long as you don't plan to linger over a 5 course dinner 6pm should be fine. Keep in mind the travel time from your restaurant to the theater as well.

Yes, if you're on Restaurant Row then 6 pm should be perfect. They're all very used to getting people out in time to get to shows. Smart choice to eat after the 7 pm performance. Have a great time.

If you're planning on eating in the theater district after the 7 pm show, by telling the rest. which show you're seeing, they should know what time it gets out. If you're not staying in the theater district, go to playbill.com and somewhere there it should tell you how long each show lasts. Most shows are 2-2 1/2 hrs.

If I'm going to a play, I like to eat a late lunch, 2PM-3PM and then go to the theater as opposed to rushing through dinner and being in a food coma through the production.

I save my special dinners for non theater nights. Just a thought.
