NEW YORK CITY RESTAURANTS

I am looking for a restaurant in New York City, preferably Tribeca area, because we are staying there, but it doesn't have to be. The restaurant needs to accomodate large groups of people (we are having around 30 people). The restaurant needs to have good food and service, but would also like to have a really cool and hip decor and ambiance. Can anybody recommend something fantastic?

Lena.

In Tribeca there is City Hall (restaurant) and if they can accomodate you Capsouto Freres. They make excellent souffles.
Neither is hip but very good food and offer adult service.

We went to an event at Public (in Nolita at 210 Elizabeth) and thought the food and ambiance was wonderful--and definitely cool and hip. Their website has a section for large groups. http://www.public-nyc.com/

Bubby's is extremly crowded with screaming kids on the weekends. I am not sure adults want to draw on paper table clothes with crayons. Hey maybe they do.

That's such a vague request. How much do you want to pay per person? If you want to pay $150 per person, there are a whole host of restaurants, a different tier at about $100 per person, and another at $50 to $75. If under $50, then it;s a completely different set of recommendations.

FYI: Don't limit yourself to Tribeca. There are lots of places that can accommodate a medium group like this.
