New York City - Recommend restaurants with good live entertainment / music?
Hi Fodorites,
Hoping for your expert advice.
I am looking for a Manhattan or Brooklyn restaurant that has some fun live entertainment or live music.
I am pretty open to types; belly dancing, flamenco dancing, live folk music, opera singing, string quartet, Irish music sessions, you name it.
I have been surfing the internet, and it's oddly difficult to find this correctly in a category. Looking for a unique New York place. Nothing cheesy like jekyl and hyde.
What are some of your faves? Hoping the food is pretty good too.
Appreciate your expert advice. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help in this dining / entertainment quest.

This is from my friend's facebook page. She has an awesome voice, and a distinguished career:
Ellen Foley -- We’re playing one of our favorite New York venues. Tickets can be bought at joespub.com, by phone at 212-967-7555, in person at the door, or at The Public Theater Box Office (same address) from 1-6. It’s a great room and I’m excited to be going back.

While I generally agree with Aduchamp here, Joe's Pub is pretty good both for food and the acts booked there, as are City Winery and Jazz Standard

Havana Central is a fun Cuban restaurant with live entertainment. They have 3 branchs, Upper Westside, Union Square, and Times Square. Reasonably priced food and good Latin entertainment. The times of the music varies by location, see below:
