It will be easier for people to make suggestions if you tell us what kind of food you like/don't like and how much you want to spend.

we like Italian, Greek, really anything just not fish...not too dressy or too expensive....good food is most important..relaxed atmosphere not too noisy...an outdoor cafe(if its not raining)...a pub...it will be Thursday and Friday night...not sure if this makes a difference in the city...and it will also be the long weekend in July.

We loved Uncle Nick's on 9th. Delicious Greek food. The BEST chicken kabob. Inexpensive. (I read about it on this forum.) FYI, the SMALL Greek salad was big enough to split as an appetizer.

For an unusual experience, we also enjoyed Balkanika. Also on 9th.

Also check out Dafni Greek Taverna, always authentic food and reasonable prices. Gets good reviews on Yelp and Menupages. Convenient to the Memphis theater.

Although it is primarily a seafood restaurant, Estiatorio Milos on West 55th Street offers great lamb chops as part of its four-course prix-fixe menu. Many consider it Manhattan's best Greek restaurant.

Glad you enjoyed it, it's one of our favorites in that area.

We went to Dafni for Greek food pre-theater, and it was great. Really convenient location, great service, and the food was very good. Liked the atmosphere too.

Remi is an excellent Italian choice. It's on West 53rd between 6th and 7th Avenues.

One more Greek restaurant: Kellari Taverna is another good choice on W. 44th.

If anyone wants to venture out of midtown there is an excellent Greek restaurant called Pylos. While it serves many traditional Greek dishes there are no gyros for instance. Eveything is excellent and the atmosphere is much more sophisticated than blue and white murals.

Another good Greek restaurant in Midtown is Ammos, on Vanderbilt and 45th Street. Big restaurant, great ambiance and one of the best pre-fixe menu deals ($33/3 COURSES) in midtown and offered Mon. thru Sat.
