Lots of bars other than McSorley's - it was like a pub crawl, especially around the village. Here is a list, in no particular order, all of which I would recommend:
The Slaughtered Lamb, 182 W 4th
Bryant Park Cafe (42nd Street side of the Upper Terrace behind the NY Public Library) - Thanks Doug - this was a great recommendation.
Peculiar Pub (145 Bleecker St)
Blind Tiger Ale House (281 Bleecker)
Wheel Tappers (44th bet. 3rd/Lex)
Annie Moore's (50 East 43rd St, right near Grand Central)
Rare View (16th floor of 303 at 37th St)
FYI - I can confirm the discussion above: Chumley's is closed - the building is under renovation and it's all boarded up w/ scaffolding.
It was hard to get work done, especially because they gave me a corner office with a view over 42nd/Madison from the 6th floor. Just awesome.
Top of the rock is highly recommended, worth 20 bucks.
Also, for a canadian with the dollar almost at par, and a tolerated taste, I found the city pretty cheap when I ate/drank in the village and other districts away from the financial centers.
That said, hotels are a rip off. I'm glad the company was picking up the tab for this trip, as the Hyatt at Grand Central, which I would give 3 stars (it's a 4) charges $380/night for a dark, small room. Very surprising. I'm sure there is better deals to be had though a la priceline.
Here are some of my pics - enjoy:

PS - In that pick of times SQ with the yahoo sign, there is an orange/white steam pipe sticking up from the groud releasing a steady stream. These were all over the place - what the heck are they?

Great pics, Jeff! I love this: "Everywhere you emerge from the subway you feel like an ant," and the photo evokes that so well. Your photos really capture the essence of each of the places you visited, and their different personalities. Thanks for sharing!

Paula - On the way there, we came in a big arc from the northeast, so I didn't get to see the city. I got a window seat on the way back, but we went westward on a path north of manhattan, and my window seat was on the north side, so no luck.
