New Year's Eve in San Francisco

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. We want to go out for an early dinner in the near area of the hotel. Will we be able to do this on New Year's Eve? Will there be a problem with transportation to and from the hotel? We were told by friends that we would never get reservations or waited on on this night. Is this true? We don't have to go anywhere fancy just a place with good sandwichs, steaks and/or seafood.

Thanks

Help is on the way!!!! Actually across the street from the hotel is a group of shops/eateries/etc and I seem to remember a very chi-chi restaurant very nice.If you go early,it shouldnt be a problem. The hotel is in a fabulous area but kinda seperated from part of the hub-bub of SFO.Meaning, to get to the "main" areas of SFO you go thru the financial district which will be dead as a doornail NYE.You will NOT be left out of the fun,let me tell you for sure. The hotel itself is fabulous in a great part of SFO.Hope I didnt ramble on too much.TC

Zagat.com has a good listing of Embarcadero neighborhood restaurants.Dont know how to cut/paste so just go there you'll find it.All you could want and not too far to go.

One Market
Red Herring
Shanghai 1930
Cosmopolitan Cafe
Boulevard
Lavash
Tadich's Grill
Sam's Grill
Maxfields
L'Olivier
Kokkari
Slanted Door
Harbor Village

...Get the point, no shortage of places to eat in and around the Embarcadero. All of these are within walking distance, Slanted Door & Maxfields are furthest away.
