New Year's Eve in Manhattan

Hello,
I'll be visiting Manhattan for New Year's Eve and staying for 3 nights beginning 12/31/03. I've never visited Manhattan for New Year's Eve...any "do's and don'ts" for this night? Any recommendations regarding restaurants (mid-range $$$), nightlife (live music), and bars? Thanks.

If you do a search, you will find tons of info on this subject including a FAQ on watching the ball drop in Times Square.

Yes, do a search of this forum for tons of info previously discussed.

2 things to keep in mind:

1. Very expensive evening in Manhattan, and just about everthing is prix fixe or cover charge (even small bars have big covers but offer all-you-can-drink)

2. Very tough to catch a taxi, so be prepared

Redhart have a great time and bring lt's of money. I have done this the cheap way when I was 18 , we all chipped in and rented hotels rooms and dragged in booze from home.
2nd time Orchestra seats at Phantom of the opera, dinner at Sardis yadda yadda.. I have to say I think I prefered the simpler time with lot's of friends

My NYC Foodie advisor said everything on NYE is very expensive. They over-charge big time!! He suggested Shun Lee Palace for excellent Chinese if that interests you! Have fun! ***kim***
