New Orleans Wine & Food Experience Superdome

We will be in New Orleans this weekend. The Wine & Food Experience will be held Friday 5/25, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Saturday 5/26, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Has anyone attended this annual event? The cost is $100.00 pp at the Superdome gate. It looks like alot of restaurants will be featuring their food. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

We have attended the NOWFE for the last five years and especially enjoy the Thursday night Royal Street Stroll along with the Friday night Grand Tastings. There are well over 100 wineries represented at the event and at each wine tasting booth there is also a local restaurant represented with yummy samples of some of their specialties. You will enjoy the event and it will be worth the ticket price. Note: There are so many wines available that you are not likely have an opportunity to taste them all within the time allotted...although we try hard to do so. Have fun and
walk back to your hotel or call a cab.

Thanks cpcouv for the reply. Friday will be our first night there (for the first time in NOLA). We have only 4 nights of dining and then my husband heads back home. I'm staying an extra week for business and will certainly be wined and dined. I thought it would be a great way to sample New Orleans cooking, but didn't want to waste a night if it was so-so. It sounds great!

cpcouv,

could you tell me more about the Thurday stroll. Is it madness, or can you really try a good deal and leisurely enjoy the establishments? Wouldn't want a push and shove wine tasting with elbows and spills, if ya know what I mean?!?!

Thinking of heading over the Vaughn's also to take in Kermit Ruffin. Any other mucical venues I should consider for Th,F,S?

Hope you're getting excited eg! Just trying to keep your and my threads up there to share what wealth we can find!

The Royal Street Stroll on Thursday night is a very laid back event. I have never experienced or seen anything like what you are concerned about. It is simply a stroll up and down the street stepping into shops of your choice for wine and food sampling and also a good opportunity to view some of the local art. Note: The event begins at 5:30 pm however participants begin lining up at 5:00 to receive their wristbands and wine glass. If you don't care to wait in line you may want to arrive around 6:00. Also I would suggest "Snug Harbor" as a venue for great local jazz.

Will be at the "Stroll" tomorrow night. Tickets are $75 in advance. Plenty of wine, some food set out with it (some of the food is wonderful). It some of the antique stores that have wine, food and music, it can get crowded, but the entire atmosphere is fun and casual. Characters (good) abound and its a good way to experience another side of the "Quarter".
